Training school

Kent Motorcycles Rider Training School was established in 1992. We currently have two rider training centres staffed by qualified Driving Standards Agency (DSA) instructors. They are always on hand to give you friendly expert advice about all your motorcycling needs. We run structured courses to suit individual needs and riding abilities.

How Do I Get Started?

Never ridden a motorcycle before? You may wish to take advantage of our FREE Riding Assessments and advice from our DSA qualified instructors. This can be arranged at our Manston Training Centre. Please ring for details of available times.

Aged 16? Wanting to ride a moped? To validate your provisional licence, you need our Moped Compulsory Basic Training (C.B.T.) Course.

Aged 17 plus? Wanting to ride a "Learner Legal" 125cc motorcycle? To validate your provisional licence, you need our Compulsory Basic Training Course.

Aged 17 plus? Never ridden but wanting to pass your motorcycle test on a 125cc bike? You need our Super Novice Course leading to a Standard A Category Course.

Aged 17 plus? Some previous riding and wanting to pass your motorcycle test on a 125cc bike? You need our Standard A Category Course.

Aged over 21? Never ridden but wanting to pass your motorcycle test on a 500cc bike? You need our Novice Course leading to a Direct Access Course.

Aged over 21? Wanting to pass you motorcycle test on a 500cc bike, and to then ride any size motorcycle? You need our Direct Access Course.

Living too far from Kent Motorcycles? You need our Residential Direct Access Course.

Manston Training Centre Alland Grange, The Loop, Manston, Kent is located on the Isle of Thanet alongside Kent International Airport (previously known as Manston Airport). From this site we run our Free Riding Assessments, Compulsory Basic Training, Super Novice Course, Standard Category A Course and Direct Access Course. Our students take their tests at the Broadstairs Test Centre, which is only a 15-minute ride from the Training Centre. Canterbury Training Centre Dover Road, Barham, Canterbury, Kent is located at our Canterbury Showroom halfway between Canterbury and Dover on the main A2. From this site we run Theory Training for Provisional Licence holders who wish to take a motorcycle test. The sessions run on Tuesday evenings between 6.30pm and 9.00pm as part of the courses. We recommend that you attend at least three training sessions, but you may attend as many times as you feel necessary.
