Conducted at our Manston Training Centre this is a nine-day course for those aged 21 or over, who have no riding experience at all. The aim of the Novice Course is to prepare you for a Direct Access Course. If you take this route and pass your Practical Motorcycle Test on a 500cc bike you may then ride any size of motorcycle.
Theory Training All Provisional Licence holders wishing to take their motorcycle test, must pass the Motorcycle Theory Test prior to taking their Practical Motorcycle Test. Students are tested on the Highway Code questions and Hazard Perception. To ensure you pass your Theory Test, Kent Motorcycles run Theory Training Classes at our Canterbury Training Centre each Monday evening between 6.30 and 9.00pm. We recommend that you attend at least three training sessions, but you are free to attend as many as you feel necessary before starting your Novice DAS course.
| First Day | Introduction to a 125cc motorcycle off road (approximately 2 hours). This normally takes place at around 3.00p.m. |
| Second Day | C.B.T. A full day training, both "off and on" road, on a 125cc motorcycle. On successful completion of the C.B.T. you will take the bike home with you to put in some further practice. |
| Final Day | Return bike and confirm dates for further training. |
| Saturday | Introduction to the 500cc for the rest of the training |
| Sunday | Training for test (approximately 3 hours) |
| Monday | Training for test (approximately 3 hours) |
| Tuesday | Training for test (approximately 3 hours) |

During all road rides your instructor will be in radio contact with you.
The cost of this course is £780. This includes Theory Training, the use of motorcycles (125cc and 500cc,) helmet, jacket, gloves, bike-to-bike intercom and test fee. You will need to wear suitable strong boots or shoes and we suggest you bring a packed lunch and drink with you. You must bring your Drivers Licence, both the Photo Card and Paper Counterfoil. We cannot start the course without sight of this. You will also be required to present it at your test. It is also a test requirement that you are able to read a number plate, in good daylight, containing letters and figures 79.4mm high, from a distance of 20.5metres whilst wearing your normal glasses or contact lenses if required.
